Victorias Secret : What Is The Secret Of Victorias Secret?

Updated on November 1, 2013

A "Brief" History Of Victorias Secret

In 1977 Roy Raymond, an entrepreneur from California, started Victorias Secret in San Francisco. Roy Raymond had a vision for Victorias Secret which was unique for that time. Roy Raymond wanted a new type of lingerie shop, with a European atmosphere. But Roy Raymond wanted Victorias Secret to be not just for women but for men too. As a man, Roy Raymond realized that men were almost afraid of venturing into a womans lingerie shop, so Roy Raymond wanted to take down the barriers for men. Roy Raymonds vision was not only unique, it worked. Just five years later, The Limited Inc bought Victoria's Secret from Roy Raymond and grew Victorias Secret dramatically. Now Victorias secret is the biggest US manufacturer of lingerie. But what few Americans realize is that Victorias Secret is almost unknown in the rest of the world. This is not due to the lack of trying. Victorias Secret has set up shops abroad. But so far, no international market is nearly as successful for Victorias Secret as the USA.
